goodbye julie

May 6, 2008

last friday morning we said bye to julie & ty before they took off on the 3 day road trip towards memphis.  people keep asking me if i’m sad, and i am in a way.  but mostly i’m just really happy that she was here for as long as she was, and especially for the great experience of swimming together.  those days will always hold a special place in my memory.

the long silence

April 16, 2008

sorry i haven’t posted in so long.  it’s because i’m going through the process i go through every year in march/april…morphing from the cave-dwelling, much-sleeping, lazy, pale larva thing i am every winter…into a sort of pupa-stage, somewhat productive, semi-busy spring time moth.  it’s a really painful process that leaves little time for being creative, what with all the foot-dragging required.

Polar Bear Plunge

February 24, 2008

so i jumped into the columbia river on saturday & here’s the video to prove it. if your internet connection is as awful as mine, you should definitely let the whole thing load before you watch it, cuz when it keeps stopping in the middle it really hurts the effect. and thanks so much to everyone who sponsored me!! it was for a great cause, and i hope that this video convinces you of that. enjoy.

world premier

February 7, 2008

welp…it’s finally time. i’m not going to mess with this any more cuz it’s never going to be perfect & i’m never going to be totally satisfied. for the 1st time ever…i would like to present an all original sarah fitzgerald song. written my jr. year of college in my dorm room w/ my guitar, gettin’ over a guy…and now, finally ready to be shared. so i am pleased, and also very self-conscious to unveil, my first completed original piece…sun comes up.

ps – please bear with me since i have the handicap of not being a very good guitar player, or a very good piano player, or a very good singer, and also i don’t know how to use garageband very well yet.  and no…your speakers aren’t defective, you just have to turn it up really loud to hear this recording. (see above sentence for details)

mocha meets a celeb

mochakissingzak.jpg

here’s a picture of mocha kissing a celebrity dog. that’s right…this is zak, who
starred in Air Bud 2 – Golden Receiver. now he’s old & stinky & lives in a
fancy schmancy house in okanagan falls, b.c. where he enjoys his custom
made doggie bath & home-made doggie treats.
we met zak on our canadian getaway last month when we stayed at
this place for 2 nights. it was pretty sweet. we just stayed in the guest house,
but these folks’ actual home was featured in a canadian homes magazine
last summer for all its fanciness.
if you wanna see more shots of our trip click here.

4.  Mouths to Feed – The Epochs
5.  Chemicals Collide – Cloud Cult
6.  Be Good – Tokyo Police Club
7.  Lucky Today – Cloud Cult
8.  Chariot – Page France
9.  Casimir Pulaski Day – Sufjan Stevens
10.  Land Locked Blues – Bright Eyes
11.  Sad Sad City – Ghostland Observatory
12.  Lay Your Head Down – Karen Ann
13.  Road To Joy – Bright Eyes
14.  Ten Dead Dogs – Wild Sweet Orange
15.  Where Have You Been? – Manchester Orchestra
16.  Kissing Families – Silversun Pickups
17.  Decoder Ring – Pufferfish
18.  Take Your Medicine – Cloud Cult

They are not in the order ove (don’t you think that’s how ‘of’ should be spelled?) how much i like them.  they are in the order that you should play them after you buy all of them on iTunes.
Feist’s 1234 and Le Disko by Shiny Toy Guns also made the cut, but wouldn’t fit on the CD.

oh…and my anthem of the year….definitely “take your medicine”.

happy rocking out.

2007 Accomplishments

January 7, 2008

i am very proud to announce, that the laps have been counted, the miles tallied, and the swimsuits completely eaten through by chlorine.  and the final count for swimming 2007 is…….

54 miles!!!!

yay!yay!hooray!  i’m so proud!  and that’s starting in june.  so hopefully in 2008 i will reach 100 miles.

i think that my 3 biggest accomplishments for the year (that i can think of right now) are

1 – swimming 54 miles
2 -being promoted to recreation coordinator
3-completing a 5K race without training, a running partner, or anyone cheering for me at the end
tie for 3rd – completed & recorded my 1st full length album of piano music (even tho none of it is original) and right now i think the only person who gets to enjoy it is a 3 month old, but if you would like a copy send me a million dollars & i’ll put one in the mail to you

all those things happened within the past month.  either i have a very short memory or december was an amazing month.
and…to my readers…please don’t be lurkers!  comments on my posts give me the energy to keep writing.  so if you read this stuff…please comment!! it will totally make my day.
